6 Check the operation of both the actuators during the flushing sequence to see whether cables
and air hoses have been connected properly or not (see figure below):
A. Flushing valve actuator opens counter clockwise (primary flushing)
B. Flow diverter valve actuator closes clockwise (secondary flushing/ back
flushing)
C. Both actuators returns to “normal operation” position simultaneously
7 Normal operation position for each valve (not the actuators) is:
Flushing Valve = Closed
Flow Diverter = Open
Pneumatic actuators only:
All actuators are equipped with throttle valves (air restrictors) for a smooth operation. Air-supply
to the actuators and the solenoid valves must be dry and clean. Compressed air quality must
be:
• Oil content: max 10 mg/dm³
• Water content: none - use a water separator
• Solid particles: max. 0.01 mm - a particle filter is recommended
• Operation pressure: Min. 5.0 bar (g) / Max. 6.0 bar (g)
8 The operation of the actuators can be checked several times if required. In order to initiate a
new flushing sequence please press the extra flushing/ flushing push button
9 If limit switches are available (optional on pneumatic actuators), then check the function of the
limit switches to make sure that the cables have been properly connected. The control panel
door needs to be open to locate the limit switch relays
Flushing valve actuator limit switches: (1-filter control panel)
Panel relay 42K7 Pos.1: Actuator open
Panel relay 42K8 Pos.1: Actuator closed
Flow diverter valve actuator limit switches: (1-filter control panel)
Panel relay 41K7 Pos.1: Actuator open
Panel relay 41K8 Pos.1: Actuator closed
Repeat the above sequence to check the actuators and the limit switches together with the other
relays if the panel is controlling more than one ALF-Filter.
