3.3.3. Connecting the External Dummy Cell
The external dummy cell for the PARSTAT 4000 (part number 3680-1300-06S, pictured
below) consists of a 10ohm resistor in series with a 100ohm || 100uF time constant.
This dummy cell is utilized in ASTM G106 (Verification of Algorithm and Equipment for
Electrochemical Impedance Measurements), and can be used for DC tests as well as EIS
testing. The relationship for these measurements is:
E=IR
E=voltage
I=current
R=resistance
For example, a constant potential of 1V applied to the should produce a current of 9.09mA
(milliamps):
1=110 (I)
I= 1/110 = 9.09mA
