•DoNOTusethe“GLUCOCARD™X-METER”tomeasurethebloodglucose
level of patients who have received treatment containing maltose,
icodextrin, who have undergone a galactose tolerance test, or xylose
absorption test. This system may overestimate their blood glucose level and
may thus mask hypoglycemia.
• Icodextrinanditsmetabolites(maltose,maltotriose,andmaltotetraose)will
cause falsely higher results.
• Donotuseduringaxyloseabsorptiontestfordiagnosticevaluationof
malabsorption as this will cause falsely higher results.
• Infusionofgalactosewillcausefalselyhigherresults.
• EDTA,heparin,andmono-iodoaceticacidsamplesofbloodmaybeused.
Do not use other preservatives.
•Donotgraspthemeterneartheteststripport.Abuilt-inthermosensorused
to minimize measurement errors is installed just inside the port. If you hold this
area, it will be warmed by your fingers, which will adversely affect test
results.
