About the 10T Hub Family
The Asanté™ 10T Hub is a hardware device that lets you create high-speed
Ethernet networks over ordinary, unshielded twisted-pair (UTP), telephone
wire. The 10T Hubs are locw-cost, easy to use devices which do not require
complicated network management and are best suited to build small to
medium size networks or subnetworks of 50 nodes or less. Asanté also has a
line of intellegent hubs which offer powerful network management capabil-
ity.
10BaseT is a standard defined by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic
Engineers (IEEE). This standard defines how Ethernet components interact
with each other on Local Area Networks (LANs) constructed of UTP. This
chapter introduces the 10BaseT Asanté 10T Hub and describes the contents
of the product package. It also provides information about additional
10BaseT products you may need to use with the Asanté 10T Hub.
