Air distribution [~]
The automatically preset air distribution can be changed.
- Press the[~] button => fig. 97.

- Rotate the regulator to the desired setting .
You can adjust the air distribution so that air flows from specific
vents . In pos it ion
;J air flows only to the windows, in pos it ion :J, it
flows to the driver or passenger, and in position
!,O it f lows to the
footwe ll. There are additional combinations avai lab le to adjust air
distribution as needed.
To regu late air d istr ibut ion automatically , sw itch to
[AUTO ].
When the MMI display is turned on, the air distribution setting
appea rs for a few seconds on the screen. •

Defrost [@]
The windshield and side windows are defrosted or cleared
of condensation as quickly as possible .
- Press the [@] button to t urn on the defroster.
- Press the[@] button again, or press the (AUTO
I button to
turn it off .
Temperat ure is controlled automa t ically. The maximum amount of
air flows mainly from the vents below the windshield.
Pressing the
I@] button switches off recirculation mode. •

Rear window defogger [Qiil]
The rear window defogger clears the rear window of
condensation.
- Press the [lllil] button to turn the rear window defogger on
and off .
The rea r window defogger works only when the engine is runn ing. The
indicator light in the button illuminates when the rear window
defogger is on.
The rear window defogger is switched off automat ically after 10 to
20 minutes, depending on the outside temperature.
The rear window defogger can be t urned on permanently by press ing
the
[Qlil] button for more than two seconds. This remains stored until
t he ignit ion is switched off. A rea r window defogger that was
switched on also remains stored for 15 minutes after the ignition is
switched off.
If the eng ine is restarted within these 15 minutes, the rear window
defogger is activated for 10 to 20 minutes, depending on outside
temperature. When a vehicle is parked fo r a short time, the rear
window defogger does not need to be manually activated again. •
