The veh icle symbol indicates whether t he syst em has de t ect ed a n
object traveling in front .
• Vehicle outline : Open road, no vehicle ahead .
• White vehicle : A vehicle is detected ahead.
• Red vehicle : Reque st for driver to ass ume control.
® Distance
Using the a rrows and scale, you can detect how far it is to the vehi cle
in front of you.
• Open road : No ar row a ppears when t he vehicle is o n an open road
and there is no ve hicle ahead.
• Driving in t raffic : If a vehicle is detected ahead, the arrow moves
on t he scale. The gree n area represents t he distan ce set . When
approaching slow ly, the arrow moves from the
gray zone to the green
zone on the scale .
• Request for driver to assume control: When approach ing rapidly,
the arrow serves as an early warning signal. If the distance selected is
exceeded or poss ibly not reache d, t he arrow moves int o t he
red zo ne
on the scale. In certain dr iving s ituations , you as the driver will have
t o take action =>

• The text ACC OFF appea rs in white lett ers whe n ada pt ive cruise
control is turned off.

ACC AVAILABLE appears in wh ite lette rs when the
system is turned on but no desired speed has been set .

OVERRIDE appears in white letters when you exceed the
desired speed by accelerating .

DISTANCE! appears in red letters when the interval to a
vehicle traveling ahead is too short and you have to slow your vehicle
add itionally with the foot brake .
• The te xt messages
DISTANCE 1 to DISTANCE 4 appea r in g reen
letters to indicate the time interval you have set and adaptive cruise
control is in manageme nt mode .
• If the driving program "standard" is replaced by "comfort" or
"dynam ic" using the MMI*, t he above text message is sup plemented
by an appropriate prom pt, e .g .
