belt or a irbag, are to be disposed. We recommend you have your
authorized Audi dealer perform this service for you. •
Service and disposal of safety belt
pretensioner
The safety bel t pretensioners are parts of the safety belts on your
Audi. Installing, remov ing, servicing or repa iring of belt preten-
sioners can damage t he safety belt system and prevent it from
work ing correctly in a collision .
The re are some important things you have to know to make sure that
the effectiveness of the sys t em will not be impa ired and that
discarded components do not cause injury or pollute the environ-
me nt.
& WARNING
Improper care, servicing and repair procedures can increase th e
risk of personal injury and death by preventing a safety belt
pretensioner fr om activating when needed or acti vating it unex-
pectedly :
• The belt pretensioner syst em can be activat ed only once. If belt
preten sioner s have been activated , the system must be replaced.
• Never repair, adjust, or change any parts of th e safety belt
system.
• Safety belt syste ms including safet y belt pretensio ners cannot
be repaired . Special procedures are required for removal, installa -
tion and disposal of this syst em.

• For any work on th e safety belt system , we strongly recom-
mend that you see your authorized Audi dealer or qualified tech-
nician who has an Audi approved repair manual, t raining and
special equipment necessary.
