Driving wi t h an insufficient oil level is like ly to cause severe damage
to the engine .
[ i ] Tips
The oil pressure warning display ~ is not an indicator of the oil
level. Do not rely on it . Instead , check the oil level in your engine at
regular intervals, preferably each time you refuel, and always
before going on a long trip .
If you have the impression your eng ine consumes excessive
amou nt s of oil, we recomm end t hat you consul t an aut horized Audi
dealer to have the cause of your concern proper ly diagnosed. Keep in
m ind th at t he accurate measu rement of oil consumption req uir es
great care and may take some time. An author ized Audi dealer has
inst ruct ions about how to meas ure oil consumption accurat ely.

- Park your veh icle so that it is horizontally level.
- Shut the engine off when it is at ope rating temperat ure.

eng ine oil if th e bar of t he oil level indicator is near "Min"

Depend ing on the way the vehicle is drive n and the operating condi-
t ions, oil consum pti on can be up to a 1/2 quart per 600 mi les (0. 5
liter per 1000 km) . Consumption may be higher within the first 3000
m iles (50 00 km).
[ i ] Tips
The oil level indicator in t he MMI* Display is only an information
display.
If the oi l level is too low, a minimum oil warning appears in
the inst rume nt cluster . Add oil =>
page 2 71. If t he hood has been
open ed, t he current oil level is shown in the inst rument clust er the
next time the ignition is switched on.
