• Never use the screw driver hex head to tighten whe el bolts,
since the bolt s cannot attain the necessary tightening torqu e if
you use the hex head, potentially causing an accident.
• The factory-supplied jack is intended only for your vehicle

Space-saving spare tire (compact
spare tire)*
The spare tire/wheel is located in the luggage compart -
ment under the cargo floor cover. It is int ended for short -
term use only.

Removing the spare tire
- Lift the cargo floor by t he plas t ic hand le => fig . 215.
- Hook the hand le into the luggage compartment weather
str ip.
- Turn the large screw => fig . 215 counter-cloc kwise .
- Take ou t the spare tir e .
- Unhook the cargo fl oor before closing the rear lid.
Securing the replaced tire
- Place the wheel wit h t ire in the s pare wheel well and
secu re t h e wheel with the large screw.
- Unho ok t he ca rgo fl oor bef ore closin g t he re a r lid.
Using the spare tire (compact s pare tire)
The compa ct spare t ire is only intended for emergencies unt il you can
reach a rep air sho p. Replace it as quickly as possib le wit h a standard
wheel and tire.
There are some restr ictions on the use of the compac t spare ti re. The
compact spare t ire has been des igned specifically fo r you r type of
vehicle . It must not be swapped with a compa ct spa re t ire from
another type of vehicle .
Snow chains
For technical reasons , the use of snow chains on the compact spa re
t ire is
not permitted .
If you do have to dr ive wit h snow chains and a front tire fails , mo unt
the spare wheel with tir e instead of a rea r tire. Ins t all the snow cha ins
on th e rear tir e and use it t o replace t he defective fr ont t ire . ._
