- Find the lifting point in the sill that is closest to t he faulty
wheel==>

- Turn the handwheel on the
vehicle jack until the jaw
==> fig. 220 @ covers the
notch on the vehicle.
- Align the vehicle jac k so the jaw @ cove rs t he notch a nd
the base plate ® is flat on t he floor. The base plate ®
must be
vertical under the lifting poi nt @ .
- Install t h e rod on t he ve hicle ja ck: Ins e rt t he rod into t he
open ing o n t he handwheel. Turn t he rod left or rig ht to
sec ure it.
- Cont inue raisi ng th e ja ck with the rod until t he wh eel lifts
off t he gro u nd slig htly .

the jack in any ot he r locations .
Soft ground under the jack can cause the vehicle to slip off the jack .
Always pla ce the ja ck on fi rm groun d . Use a fl at , stable support if
necessary. Use a non-s lip surface such as a rubber mat on a
slippery
surface
such as t ile.
& WARNING
You or your passengers could be injured while changing a
wheel if you do not follow these safety precaution s:
- Positioning the jack under the vehicle at any other place than
those indicated above may damage the vehicle or may result in
personal injuries.
- A soft or unstable surface under the jack may cause the
vehicle to slip off the jack. Always provide a firm base for the
jack on the ground. If necessary , use a sturdy board under the
jack.
- On hard, slippery surface (such as tiles ) use a rubber mat or
similar to prevent the jack from slipping .
To help prevent injury to yourself and your passengers:
- Do not raise the vehicle until you are sure the jack is securely
engaged.
- Passengers must not remain in the vehicle when it is jacked
up.
- Make sure that passengers wait in a safe place away from the
vehicle and well away from the road and traffic.
- Make sure jack pos it ion is correct, adjust as necessary and
then continue to raise the jack.
