When they are closed, the door and rear lid are locked. When
unlock ing , you can set in the radio o r MMI* whether
only the drive r's
door or the ent ire vehicle shou ld be unlocked =>

Automatic locking
The a utomat ic lock ing feature locks a ll the veh icle doors and the rea r
lid whe n you drive faster than 9 mph (15 km/h) .
The car is unlocked again once t he ignition key is removed. In ad d i-
t ion , t he vehicle can be unl ocked if the open ing func t ion in the power
locking system swit ch or at one of the doo r levers is actuated. The
Aut o Lock function can be turned on a nd off in t he rad io or MMI*
=>page 42.
Add itiona lly, in t he event of a crash w ith airbag dep loyment the doors
are automatically un locked to allow access to the ve hicle.
Anti-theft alarm warning system
If the anti-theft alarm warning system detects a break-in into the
vehicle , acoustic and visual warning signals a re triggered .
The a nt i-theft wa rning system is activated a utomat ically when you
loc k the vehicle . It is deactivated w hen unlocking using t he
remote
key,
w it h t he mechani cal key, an d w hen you switch on the ignition.
The a larm also turns off w hen the alarm cycle has expired.
Turn signals
When you unlock the veh icle, the turn signals flash twice, when you
lo ck it once. If t hey do not fla sh, one of t he doo rs, the rear lid o r the
hood is no t locked .
Unintentionally locking yourself out
In the following cases there safegua rds to prevent you lock ing your
re m ote maste r key in the vehi cle:
• The ve hicle does not lock with the central lock ing sw itch

• On vehicles with conven ience key*, if the most recently used
m ast er key is in t he luggage co m pa rt men t , the rea r lid is automa t i-
cally unlocked again afte r it is closed=>

Do not loc k your vehicle w it h the remote master key until all doors
and t he rear lid a re closed . In th is way you avoid locking yo ur self out
acc identally.
& WARNING
• When you leave the vehicle, always remove the ignition key
and take it with you. This will prevent passeng e rs (children, for
example ) from accidentally being locked in the vehicle should
they accidentally press the power locking switch in the front
doors .
• Do not leave children inside the vehicle unsupervised. In an
emergency it would be impossible to open the doors from the
outside without the key.
W Tips
• In the event of a crash w ith airbag deployme nt all locked doors
will be a utomat ically un locked to give access to the ve hicle occupants
from t he ou t side.
• If the power lockin g system should malfunction, you can lock the
dr ive r's door using t he mechanical key:::::,

• You are well advised not to keep val uables inside an unattended
vehicle, visib le or not . Even a properly locked veh icle cannot provide
the security of a safe.
• If the LED in the uppe r edge of the driver 's doo r panel comes on
for about 30 seconds afte r the vehicle is locke d, there is a malfunc-
tion in the power lock ing or t he anti -theft warning system . Have the
ma lfunction corrected by an autho rized Audi dea lers hip or q ualified
re pair facili ty. •
