Heated mirrors
- Rotate t he knob t o position @ .
Depending on the outside temperature, the mirror surfaces are
heated until the ignit ion is switched off - even if the knob is no longer
in posit ion @.
You are well -advised to fold the outside mirrors in when mane uvering
in tight spaces or w hen leaving the car parked close to othe r vehicles .
Memory for exterior mirrors*
On vehicles with memory fo r the driver's seat , the current sett ing f or
the exter ior mir rors is automatically sto red along with the seat posi -
t ion::::,

Tilt function for the passenger's mirror* (only with
memory for exterior mirrors)
When t he reverse gear is engaged, the mirror surface tilts downward
slightly if t he sett ing is for the passenger 's mi rror (knob in position
@::::, page 64, fig. 62). This allows you to see t he curb during parallel
par king.
The mirror returns to its initial position as soon as reverse gear is
disengaged and vehicle speed is above abo ut 9 mph (15 km/ h). The
mirror also returns to its initia l position if the switc h is moved to the
driver's out side mir ror © or t he igni t ion is switched off .
If t he position of t he mirror surface is changed on a t il ted m irror, th is
new position will be automatically assigned to the remote key when
the vehicle is ta ken out of reverse gear.

Curved m ir ror surf aces (convex or spherical*) incre ase your fie ld of
view. Remembe r that vehicles or other objects will appear smaller
and f art her away th an when seen in a fla t mir ror.
If you use this
mirror to estimate distances of following vehicles when changing
lanes, yo u could est imate incor rect ly and cause an acciden t .

If t here should be a malfunc t ion in the elect rical system, you can still
adjust the outside mirrors by pressing the edge of the m irror .

Automatic dimming for the outside
mirrors
The outside mirrors dim at the same t ime as the inside mirror . When
the ignition is switched on, t he mir rors automatically dim depend ing
on th e amoun t of light str iki ng th e mir rors (such as head li ghts
shining into the vehicle from t he rear).
Whe n the int erior light ing is switched on and when reverse gear is
engaged, the mirrors are switched back to their or iginal brightness
(not dimmed) .
& WARNING
Broken gla ss of automatic dimming mirror can cause electrolyte
fluid leakage. Electrolyte fluid can irritate skin, eyes, and respira-
tory system .
Repeated or prolonged exposure to electrolyte can cause irrita-
tion to the respiratory system, especially among people with
asthma or other respiratory conditions. Get fresh air immediately
by leaving the vehicle or, if that is not possible, open windows and
doors all the way.
If electrolyte gets into the eyes , flu sh them thoroughly with
large amounts of clean water for at least 15 minutes ; medical
attention is recommended.
If electrolyte conta ct s skin, flush affected area with clean
water for at least 15 minute s and then wash affe cted area with
soap and water; medical attention is recommended. Thoroughly
wash affe cted clothing and shoe s before reuse. .,,_
