7-7. Troubleshooting Table
Trouble Remedy
No weld output; wire does not feed; fan
does not run.
Secure power cord plug in receptacle (see Section 5-5).
Replace building line fuse or reset circuit breaker if open.
Place Power switch in On position (see Section 6-1).
Check supplementary protector CB1, and reset if open (see Section 7-2).
No weld output; wire does not feed; fan
motor continues to run.
Thermostat TP1 open (overheating). Allow fan to run with gun trigger switch off; thermostat closes when
unit has cooled (see Section 4-3).
Set the Voltage switch to positions 1, 2, 3, or 4. There is no weld output and wire does not feed when
switch is in Fan Only position (see Section 6-1).
Ensure the gun trigger switch is depressed and held (see Section 6-2).
Check if Over Temperature Light PL1 is On. Light goes on and weld output/wire feeding stops when unit
has overheated. To resume welding, allow fan to cool unit until light goes off (see Sections 4-3 and 6-1).
No weld output; wire does not feed; fan
motor continues to run.
Be sure that Voltage switch is not set between ranges (see Section 6-1).
Disassemble torch handle and check trigger switch lead connections, tighten or reconnect any loose
connections.
No weld output; wire feeds.
Connect work clamp to get good metal to metal contact.
Check cable connection at work clamp and tighten hardware if necessary (see Section 5-2).
Replace contact tip (see Section 7-3).
Low weld output.
Connect unit to proper input voltage or check for low line voltage.
Place voltage switch in desired position (see Section 6-1).
Check cable connection at work clamp and tighten hardware if necessary (see Section 5-2).
Low weld output. If using an extension cord, check that wire size and length is the proper size for power rating of welding
power source (see Section 4-2).
Electrode wire feeding stops during
welding.
Ensure wire spool is not out of welding wire.
Readjust hub tension (see Section 5-4).
Adjust drive roll pressure (see Section 5-7).
Check supplementary protector CB1, and reset if open (see Section 7-2).
Check cable connection at work clamp and tighten hardware if necessary (see Section 5-2).
Connect work clamp to get good metal to metal contact.
Check if Over Temperature Light PL1 is On. Light goes on and weld output/wire feeding stops when unit
has overheated. To resume welding, allow fan to cool unit until light goes off (see Sections 4-3 and 6-1).
Straighten gun cable and/or replace damaged parts.
Change to proper drive roll groove (see Section 7-4).
Replace contact tip if blocked (see Section 7-3).
Clean or replace wire inlet guide or liner if dirty or plugged (see Section 7-4).
Replace drive roll or pressure bearing if worn or slipping (see Section 7-4).
Check and clear any restrictions at drive assembly and liner (see Section 7-5).
