Before you start
This installation guide explains how to install and configure the Avigilon Single Door Controller (SDC) as part of
an Avigilon Alta access control system.
Conducting site surveys
Before installing Avigilon hardware, conduct a customer site survey to determine the following:

The number of entriesthat need to be configured (for example, doors, gates, and elevator floors)
l
Whether you're using legacy wiring or new wiring
l
The electronic entry mechanisms, Request to Exit (REX) mechanisms, and door contact sensors that will
be used and their power requirements.
l
Whether you're providing backup batteries for the Single Door Controller. See Selecting a backup battery
on page9.
l
Whether you're supporting a legacy access control panel for mobile gateway.
