HTML Hypertext Markup Language. A standard hypertext language used to
create World Wide Web pages and other hypertext documents.
HTTP Hypertext Transfer Protocol. The TCP/IP protocol for Web based
communication.
IP Internet Protocol. The TCP/IP session-layer protocol that regulates
packet forwarding by tracking internet addresses, routing outgoing
messages, and recognizing incoming messages.
JPEG Joint Photographic Experts Group. Format for storing bitmap images.
LCD Liquid Crystal Display.
LED Light Emitting Diode.
MIB Management Information Base. A database of network configuration
information used by SNMP and CMIP to monitor or change network
settings.
NIS Network Information Services. The security and file-access databases
on UNIX systems, previously known as Yellow Pages.
OCR Optical Character Recognition. A technology that allows printed
pages to be scanned and converted into text document that can be
edited in a word processor.
RARP Reverse Address Resolution Protocol. A TCP/IP protocol governing
the translation of a Data-Link Control (DLC) address to an Internet
address.
RISC Reduced Instruction Set Computing. A processor that recognizes only
a limited number of assembly-language instructions.
SCSI Small Computer System Interface. A high-speed parallel interface,
used to connect a computer to peripheral devices using just one port.
