Section 4: Using the AXIS 700
44 AXIS 700 User’s Manual
Specifying Scanning Parameters
Optionally you can specify these parameters for each scanning job:
• Scanning profile
• Paper size
•Double-sided
If you do not specify anything, the default settings will be used.
Scanning Profile
The AXIS 700 comes pre-installed with eight standard scanning
profiles designed to cover most purposes. Optionally, you can change
these profiles or add new formats to suit specific needs. Refer to
“Profile” on page 31.
Select a scanning profile based on what is being scanned. Documents
should typically use one of the Text profiles. Pictures should use any
of the Gray or Color profiles.
Scanning color images to JPEG is more time consuming due to the
amount of computation performed by the AXIS 700. Therefore, do
not scan in higher resolution than needed, e.g. for Web publishing of
color images, “Color low” (75 dpi) should be sufficient.
This table lists the predefined scanning profiles in the AXIS 700:
Notes:
❏ The default scanning profile is Text.
❏ The quality of the JPEG output is set to 75.
