Takeoff
and Climb to Assigned Altitude
1.
As the aircraft is rotated to its
appropriate climb attitude, the CWS
button may be pushed to enable the
flight director and sync pitch attitude
hold to the current pitch attitude and
sync the lateral mode to hold current
roll attitude. The heading bug is posi-
tioned at the desired or assigned
heading (in this
case
270").
Altitude
alerting is provided by selecting the
desired or assigned altitude on the
KAV
485.

When desired, the Heading and
Climb modes (or other desired vertical
mode) are engaged. This will result in
flight director commands to turn to the
selected heading and pitch to
maintain the selected vertical mode.
The aircraft has not responded to
the commands but will as soon
as
the
autopilot is engaged.
