Continuing the maneuver on the
preceding page, approach coupling
occurs and glideslope mode will be
automatically annunciated
as
armed.
The flight director will command a
turn
to
the localizer course and the
HSI
shows your position in relation to
the localizer course.

The autopilot is following the flight
director commands which maintain the
localizer centerline tracking. At the
outer marker the glideslope pointers
are approximately at midpoint. Glide-
slope
mode goes from arm to coupled
and altitude hold is disengaged auto-
matically at the glideslope capture
point (which is based on glideslope
deviation and rate
of
deviation
change). The flight director then com-
mands a descent on the glideslope.
