11 Caring for the Pump
11.1 Cleaning and Disinfecting the Pump
WARNINGS
Turn off the pump and disconnect the AC adapter from the pump before cleaning and
disinfecting the pump.
Do not sterilize the pump, the AC adapter, or the generator connection cable with steam
autoclave sterilization or ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization.
Do not immerse the pump in liquid or expose it to excessive moisture, especially when the pump
is connected to the mains outlet.
Clean and disinfect the pump after each use.
Before cleaning the pump, inspect the pump and all connected accessories to ensure that there is
no visual damage. Contact Customer Support or your Biosense Webster representative if you
identify any problems.
To clean the screen, use a dry microfiber cloth. If damp cleaning is necessary, moisten a soft cotton
or linen cloth with commercial grade glass cleaner that does not contain alcohol and wipe the
screen. Do not spray the cleaner directly onto the screen.
To clean the pump’s housing, wipe the housing with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with distilled
water, isopropyl alcohol, or an alcohol based cleaning product. Do not use ethyl alcohol or any acid
based cleaner. Do not spray the cleaner directly onto the housing.
11.2 Cleaning the Cords and Connection Cables
The following instructions apply to the mains cable, the generator connection cable, and the
AC adapter.
1. Before cleaning each cable, disconnect it from the equipment.
2. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with a mild soap solution. Fold the cloth and gently pull the cable
through the fold. Ensure that none of the soap solution enters the connectors.
3. Gently wipe the AC adapter.
4. Use a dry lint-free cloth to dry each cable and the AC adapter.
11.3 Maintenance and Repairs
Before each use, perform the inspections described in 10.1, Operational Safety Inspection. Once a
year, verify that the device label is present and readable (see 9.4, Controls on the Back of the
Pump). To ensure that the pump is operating correctly, routinely check the flow accuracy using the
Pump Test Kit (see 9.2, Components and Accessories). If any problems are discovered, contact
Customer Support.
There are no parts in the pump that may be serviced by the user. Repairs of the pump and its
accessories may be performed only by Biosense Webster, a service engineer authorized by
Biosense Webster, or a service center authorized by Biosense Webster.
