SERVSELECT IP™ INSTALLER/USER GUIDE
22
To add a KV2016A ServSelect II switch:
1. Mount the ServSelect II into your rack cabinet. Locate a length of CAT 5
cabling to connect the ServSelect II to the ServSelect IP.
2. Attach one end of the CAT 5 cabling to the User A ACI port on the back of the
ServSelect II.
3. Connect the other end of the CAT 5 cable to a port on the back of your
ServSelect IP.
4. Connect the servers to your Z8 or ServSelect II according to the instructions in
the ServSelect II manual.
5. Power cycle the ServSelect II to enable the cascade code.
6. Repeat steps 2-5 for all ServSelect IIs you want to attach to your system.
To connect the network and turn on your ServSelect IP:
1. Connect your network cable from the LAN port on the rear of the ServSelect IP
appliance to your network.
2. The components in the ServSelect IP system may be turned on in any order.
However, since the SAMs are powered by the servers, turn on the servers first
and then turn on all attached systems for the most efficient startup.
3.4 Adding Servers
While you can configure the entire ServSelect IP system through either the OSD
or the ServSelect IP software, we recommend first adding server names to the
OSD at the local analog station prior to adding or discovering the appliance in the
ServSelect IP software at the digital station.
To add server names:
1. Launch the OSD at the local analog station and input all server names. You can
also customize the OSD as well as access the ServSelect IP from the analog
station. See Chapter 4 in this installer/user guide for detailed instructions on
OSD setup and confi guration.
2. After you install the ServSelect IP software on each digital station, launch the
ServSelect IP software and click Add New Appliance to add the new ServSelect
IP. The server names you entered in the OSD will now display in the ServSelect
IP software for all servers/SAM adaptors that are powered up and online. SAM
adaptors that are offl ine can be added later using the resync feature. See the
ServSelect IP Software Installer/User Guide that ships with your appliance.
