6 MAINTENANCE
6.1 GENERAL INFORMATION
Maintenance and replacement work must be done by expert maintenance technicians
trained in the observance of applicable laws on health and safety at work and the
special ambient problems attendant on the installation.
The BONFIGLIOLI RIDUTTORI Sales Department is at your disposal for any
requirements.
Before performing any work on the unit, personnel must:
deactivate the gear unit drive unit, setting it to "out of service" status"
take precautions against possible conditions that could lead to involuntary start up of the
drive unit or any movement of the gear unit (rotation generated by suspended masses
or similar causes), signalling the boundaries with care and preventing access to all
devices that, if activated, could lead to conditions of unexpected danger with a
consequent risk for personal health and safety.
activate all the necessary additional environmental safety measures (e.g. scavenging of
gas or residual dust, etc.).
Perform gear unit maintenance work while observing the following prescriptions:
Replace worn components with original spare parts only.
Use the lubricants (oil and grease) recommended by the Manufacturer.
When working on the gear unit always replace gaskets and seals with new original ones.
If a bearing requires replacement, it is good practice to also replace the other bearing
supporting the same shaft.
We recommend replacing the lubricating oil after all maintenance work.
Do not disperse contaminant liquids, worn parts and maintenance residues in the environment.
Dispose of all such substances in strict compliance with the applicable statutory legislation.
The above instructions are aimed at ensuring efficient and safe operation of the gear unit.
The Manufacturer declines all liability for injury and damage to components due to the use of non-
original spare parts and non-
routine work which modifies the safety requirements without the express
prior authorisation of the Manufacturer.
Refer to the specific spare parts catalogue when ordering spare parts for the gear unit.
