7.4 DRYWELL
All work must be performed exclusively with the gear unit at a standstill.
The motor must be protected against inadvertent starts (e.g. with a lockout on the main power
switch or by removing the power fuses). For this purpose, also affix a notice to the motor
indicating that work is in progress on the gear unit.
Observing the intervals specified in the Operating and Maintenance chart, inject 40 grams of grease
for rolling contact bearings (e.g. lithium-
based grease) through the grease nipples on the output shaft
cap.
7.5 SEALS AND GASKETS
The gear units can be supplied with alternative seal systems on request:
Contacting seals:
single or double nitrile rubber compound seal rings
single or double Viton
®
compound seal rings
Non-contacting seals:
Wear- and maintenance-
free labyrinth type seals. Labyrinth seals are suitable exclusively for B3
mounting position installations.
7.6 SENSORS
Bimetal thermostat
A bimetal thermostat sensor can be supplied on request to limit oil temperature to 90°C ± 5°C.
Installation and wiring of the sensor must be carried out by the gear unit installer.
Oil level indicator
An infrared sensor for remote monitoring of the lubricant safety level can be installed on request.
The device functions when the gear unit is idle. When the gear unit is running the oil level
sensor must be bypassed. This sensor must be wired by the installer.
7.7 OTHER ACCESSORIES
For any special accessories installed on the gear unit in accordance with contractual specifications
refer to the instructions supplied by the manufacturer of the accessories in question, since such
components may feature special maintenance and/or lubrication requirements.
