6.7 CHECKING EFFICIENCY
Remove dust deposits from the gear unit casing.
Check that noise at constant load does not vary. Excessive vibration or noise can indicate wear
of the gear train or failure of a bearing..
Check for lubricant leaks from the gaskets/seals, caps and casings.
Check all bolted couplings for wear, deformation or corrosion and tighten them down fully
without overtightening.
