44/56 Maintenance and repair
Bosch Rexroth Corporation, A21VG Series 10, RE 93223-01-B/09.2020
10.2 Inspection
In order to enable long and reliable operation of the axial piston unit, Bosch
Rexroth recommends testing the hydraulic system and axial piston unit on a
regular basis, and documenting and archiving the following operating conditions:
Table 12: Inspection schedule
Task to be carried out Interval
Hydraulic
system
Check level of hydraulic uid in the reservoir. Daily
Check the operating temperature at a comparable load
condition at the reservoir port and in the reservoir.
Weekly
Conduct analysis of hydraulic uid: viscosity, aging and
dirt contamination
Yearly or
every 2000
operatinghours
(whichever occurs
rst)
Axial piston
unit
Check axial piston unit for leakage.
Early detection of hydraulic uid loss can help to nd
faults on the machine/system and to rectify them.
For this reason, Bosch Rexroth recommends that the
axial piston unit and system are always kept in a clean
condition.
Daily
Check axial piston unit for unusual noise development. Daily
Check fastener elements for tight seating.
All fasteners have to be checked when the hydraulic
system is switched off, depressurized and cooled down.
Monthly
10.3 Maintenance
The axial piston unit islow-maintenance when used asintended.
The service life oftheaxial piston unit isheavily dependent onthe quality
ofthehydraulic uid. This iswhy we recommend changing thehydraulic
uid atleast once per year orevery 2000 operating hours (whichever occurs
rst), orhaving itanalyzed bythehydraulic uid manufacturer oralaboratory
todetermine its suitability for further use.
The service life oftheaxial piston unit islimited tothe service life ofthebearings
used. You can ask your local contact person about service life based onload cycle.
You can nd their contact information at

Based on these details, amaintenance interval should be determined by the
system manufacturer for thereplacement ofthebearings and included in the
maintenance schedule ofthehydraulic system
