What fuel octane is recommended for my Evinrude 4-Stroke outboard?
Evinrude 4-Stroke outboards require a minimum octane of 87 (U.S.). Use of higher
octane fuels is not harmful, but also not necessary.
What kind of oil does my Evinrude 4-Stroke outboard require?
Evinrude/Johnson Ultra 4Stroke outboard oil is recommended for use in Evin-
rude 4-Stroke outboards.
If Evinrude/Johnson Ultra 4Stroke outboard oil is not available, use a high quality
SAE 10W–30, or 10W–40 oil with the NMMA certification FC-W, or with API rating
SF, SG, SH, SJ, Sl, SM.
Choose 10W30, or 10W40 oil based on ambient operating temperature. Refer
to Oil Requirements on page 19.
Where should I take my Evinrude 4-Stroke outboard for service?
For repairs covered under warranty, you must take your Evinrude 4-Stroke out-
board to an authorized dealer. BRP-approved dealers and distributors have re-
ceived the necessary training to properly service your outboard. Contact BRP for
an authorized Evinrude dealer near you.
Can I order replacement parts and accessories for my Evinrude 4-Stroke out-
board?
Yes. When replacement parts are required, use Evinrude/Johnson Genuine Parts
or parts with equivalent characteristics, including type, strength, and material. Us-
ing substandard parts could result in injury or product malfunction. Your dealer
can order the parts and accessories you desire.
Do I need to complete any paperwork when I move or sell my Evinrude 4-Stroke
outboard?
Yes. In order to maintain contact with you or the new Evinrude 4-Stroke owner,
BRP requests you complete the form outlining Change of Address / Change of
Ownership. This will ensure you or the new owner is made aware of any product
announcements and keep the warranty coverage up-to-date.
What do I need to do before storing my Evinrude 4Stroke outboard for the winter?
Winterization is minimal. Refer to Off Season Storage for step-by-step instructions
to store your Evinrude 4-Stroke outboard for the off-season.
