Failure: too high control circuit voltage of air conditioner compressor relay
Step Operation Result Solution

Connect scanner and commutator, and then turn
ignition switch to “OFF”.
Go to next step
Yes Go to Step 4

Unplug air conditioner compressor relay, turn
ignition switch to “ON”, check voltages between
Pin 30, 85 of relay and cathode of power supply to
see if they are around 12V.
No Go to next step
Yes
Repair or
replace wire
harness

Check power supply terminal circuit of relay to see
if open circuit or short circuit to ground occurs.
No Go to Step 2
Yes Replace relay

Check the voltage between Pin 86 of relay (control
terminal of air conditioner compressor relay) and
cathode of power supply to see if it is around 3.7V.
No Go to next step
Yes
Repair or
replace wire
harness

Check the connection between Pin 86 of relay
(control terminal of air conditioner compressor
relay) and Pin 41 of ECU to see if short circuit
occurs.
No

Test operation of engine fault indicating lamp using
“Actuator Operation Test” function of scanner,
observe if it keeps off or on.
No System normal

Check fault indicating lamp power supply terminal
circuit of engine to see if open circuit or short
circuit to ground occurs.
No Go to next step

Check the connection between the pin at control
terminal of engine fault indicating lamp and Pin 26
of ECU to see if open, short circuit to power/ground
occurs.
