5). Vehicle cold starting is difficult

1 Set ignition switch in “ON”. Check with scanner
to see if there is failure information record.
No Go to next step
Yes Go to next step 2 Check with multimeter to see if coolant
temperature sensor is in good order. (Or connect
in series a 2.5K ohmic resistance between pins of
54# and 62# of ECU to replace coolant
temperature sensor and then start engine.) If
starting is OK, it shows coolant temperature
sensor is out of order.
No Replace sensor
Yes Go to next step 3 Switch on the ignition switch and connect
commutator between ECU and wire harness.
Check if the voltages of the following pins of
ECU are in good order: if the accumulator voltage
is about 12V on 47#, while 0 on 27# and 28#.
No Check wire harness

Yes Go to next step 4 Check if air filter is smooth; if throttle has carbon
deposit.
No Replace
Yes Go to next step 5 After successful starting, check to see if intake
manifold pressure is between 35-55kPa during
idling.
No Eliminate intake

6 Slightly step down on throttle to see if the starting
is easy.
No Go to next step
Yes Go to next step 7 Pull out the idle speed actuator connector on wire
harness before engine coolant temperature reaches
35℃ to see if engine speed declines.
No Repair or replace

Yes Go to next step 8 Connect fuel pressure gauge valve. Ground
directly the 86# pin of fuel pump relay. Switch on
the ignition switch to make fuel pump relay and
fuel pump work, and then check if fuel pressure is
at about 350kPa.
No Go to step 12
Yes Go to step 11 9 Provide 12V voltage directly from accumulator to
injector with special connector, and check if
injector is working in good order.
No Go to next step
Yes Go to next step 10 Recheck injector to see if it is working in good
order after cleaning.
No Replace injector
Yes Replace fuel 11 Check if fuel is deteriorated or contains water.
No Go to step 17
