7). Idle speed is instable during warming-up
Yes Eliminate failure

1 Set ignition switch in “ON”. Check with scanner
to see if there is failure information record.
No Go to next step
Yes Go to next step 2 Check if air filter is smooth.
No Replace
Yes Go to next step 3 Make engine run at idle speed, and check to see if
intake manifold pressure is between 35-55kPa
during warming-up.
No Eliminate intake

Yes Go to next step 4 Shut down the engine and switch on ignition
switch, and then connect commutator between
ECU and wire harness to check the voltages of
intake air temperature and water temperature
sensor as well as ECU’s 54#, 62# pins (served as
4.5-5V sensor power) to see if they are in good
order.
No Overhaul
Yes Go to next step 5 Pull out idle speed actuator connector before
completion of warming-up to see if engine speed
changes (ECU-controlled fan rotates continuously)
No Replace idle speed

Yes Go to next step 6 Check if coolant temperature sensor is in good
working order:
3 k ohm± 5% at 25°C
No Replace
Yes Replace ECU 7 Make engine run at idle speed, and check to see if
ignition advance angle is normal after coolant
temperature reaches normal value.
No Check others
