Configuring the Interface Speed
Use the following task to set the interface speed.

1. enable
2. configure terminal
3. interface fastethernet interface-id
4. speed [10 | 100 | auto]
DETAILED STEPS
Note If you set the interface speed to auto on a 10/100-Mbps Ethernet interface, both speed and duplex are
automatically negotiated.
Configuring the Interface Duplex Mode
Follow the steps below to set the duplex mode of a Fast Ethernet interface.

enable
Example:
Router> enable
Enables privileged EXEC mode.
• Enter your password if prompted.
Step 2
configure terminal
Example:
Router# configure terminal
Enters global configuration mode.
