1.CommonInformation
A.Thisprocedureprovidesaircraftdeicing/anti-icingoperation.
B.Deicingisaproceduretoremovethefrost,iceorsnowfromthesurfaceoftheaircraft.
C.Anti-icingisaprecautionaryproceduretopreventfrost,iceandsnowfromformingoncertainaircraft
surfaceswithinaspecicperiod.
D.Holdovertimeistheapproximatetimedeicing/anti-icinguidskeepaircraftsurfacesoffthefrost,ice,
orsnow.
E.Groundicingconditions:Ingeneral,themeteorologicalconditionsinwhichtheoutsideairtemper-
atureisbelow5℃,visiblemoisture(rain,snow,sleet,icecrystals,fogwithvisibilitylessthan1.5
kilometers,andsoon)existsorthereisstandingwater,slush,iceorsnowontherunway,ormeteoro-
logicalconditionsinwhichtheoutsideairtemperatureisbelow10℃,andtheoutsideairtemperature
reachesorisbelowdewpoint.
2.Procedures
A.Deicing/Anti-icingFluid
(1)Usetherecommendedmaterialorthesubstitutematerialthatmeetsanyoftheserequirements:
(a)ThesubstitutematerialhasbeenapprovedorauthorizedbytheAirworthinessCertication
DepartmentofCivilAviationAdministrationofChina.
(b)Thestandardorspecicationusedtomanufacturethesubstitutematerialconformstothat
oftheanti-icinguidtobereplaced.
(c)Allliquidsmustbeusedinaccordancewithmanufacturerrecommendations,healthand
environmentalregulations,andoperatorrequirements.
(d)TheprotectivepropertiesoftypeII,IIIandIVliquidswilldegradeiftheyarecontaminated,
improperiytransportedorstored,overheated,orshearforcesareexcessiveduringtransfer
oruse.
(2)TypeI,TypeIIandTypeIVanti-icinguidsarecommonlyuseddeicing/anti-icinguids.
(a)TypeIliquidsmustbeheatedtoprovideeffectivede-icing.
(b)Accordingtodifferentusageprocedures,concentratedTypeIliquidmustbedilutedwith
watertoobtainanappropriatefreezingpoint.
(c)Inordertoprovidemaximumanti-icingprotection,TypeIIandTypeIVliquidsshouldbe
usedunderundilutedconditions.
(d)TypeIIandTypeIVliquidshavehigherviscosityandcanformamoreviscousliquidcov-
eringlayeronthewingthanTypeIliquid.
