1.CommonInformation
A.Staticgroundingisnotnecessaryiftheairplaneisparkedforturnaroundightandnomaintenance
istobedone.
B.Duringpressurerefuelingoftheairplane:
(1)Anelectricalbondisnecessarybetweentheairplaneandtherefuelingvehicle.
(2)Staticgroundingisnotnecessaryiftheconductivitybetweentheairplaneandtheparkingsiteis
adequate.
NOTE:
Theoperatorshouldensuretheconductivityoftheairplaneandtheparkingsiteisad-
equate.Andapplicableprocedureshavetobeestablishedinareaswhereparkingsite
conductivityisseasonalchange.
NOTE:
Parkingsiteconductivitymaybeinadequateondrysnow,drysandorinareasoflow
moisture.
C.Whentheaircraftelectricalnetwork(e.g.theAPUgenerator,batteryandgroundelectricalpower)is
usedandmaintenanceiscarriedoutontheground,extrastaticgroundingisnotrequired.
D.Whentheequipmentusedformaintenanceneedscityelectricityorindustrialelectricity,staticground-
ingisrequired.
E.Staticgroundingisnecessarywhenperformingmaintenancetasksusingthesedevices:
(1)powertool
(2)Electricalpowersources
(3)Lights
(4)T oolsdrivenbyexternalpower
(5)Flammableconditions
F.Whengroundingisrecommendedinadetailedprocedure,theairplanemustbegroundedtoacom-
mon,approved,identiedground.
G.Whereallapprovedgroundingpointsareinterconnectedinagridsystem,anynumberofindividual
groundingpointswillprovideacommonground.Ifanareadoesnothaveagridsystem,useasingle
pointapprovedandidentiedcommongroundforallgroundingcables.
H.Whenconditionspermit,staticgroundingissuggestedduringmaintenance.
WARNING:DONOTCONNECTTHEHEADSETORTOUCHELECTRICALCONNECTIONSTOTHE
AIRPLANEINTHUNDERSTORMANDLIGHTNINGWEATHER.LIGHTNINGSTRIKECAN
CAUSESEVEREINJURY .
I.Ifthunderorlightningarepresentinthearea,stopgroundservicingoperations,makesuretheaircraft
isgrounded,andkeepthepersonnelawayfromtheaircraft.
J.Theairplaneisnormallyelectrostaticallygroundedthroughconductivetires.
K.Theapprovedelectrostaticgroundingpointonairplaneismainlandinggeargroundinglug,whichis
installedontheoutercylinderoftherightmainlandinggearshockstrut.
