1.CommonInformation
A.ThissectiongivesthesafetyprecautionstotowtheARJ21-700.
B.Toensureclarityintheprocedure,refertotowingdenitionsthatfollow:
PushbacktowingMovingafullyloadedaircraft(passengers,cargo
andfuel)fromtheparkingpositiontothetaxiway.
Themovementincludes:pushbacktoturn,one
stop,short-distanceforwardtowingtomakethe
frontwheeldirectionconsistentwiththeaircraft
direction.
Maintenancetowingthemovementoftheaircraftformaintenanceor
remoteparking(forexample:movementfrom
thegatetothehangar).Inmaintenancetowing,
theairplaneusuallydoesnotloadandonly
containsaverysmallamountoffuel.
DispatchtowingReferstotowingaroutineight(containing
passengers,fuelandcargountiltheaircraft
MaximumRampWeight)fromtheparkingarea
oftheboardinggatetothenearbyareaofthe
availablerunway,andthemovingdistancecan
reachseveralkilometers.
2.Procedures
A.Obeyallthetowingsafetyprecautions:
NOTE:
Thefollowingprocedures((2)-(3)and(13)-(17)aredonebytowtractordriver,theproce-
dure((1)(4)-(12)and(9)-(10)aredonebyaircraftmaintenanceperson.
(1)Forasafertowingoperation,4personsarerecommenderinfourpositions,whointheight
compartment,theleftwingtip,therightwingtip,behindthetail.
(2)Towtheaircraftfromthenoselandinggear.
(3)Whentoworpushtheaircraftonpavedrigidrunwaybyatowbarconnectedtothenoselanding
gearshockstrut,themaximumallowabletowingangleofthenosewheelis102°leftorrightof
theneutralposition.
(4)Withdeatedtiresononelandinggear,youshouldreplacethedeatedtireswithserviceable
tiresbeforetowingtopreventdamagetothetiresandwheels.
(5)Duringallphasesofgroundtowingandmaintenance,thecenterofgravity(CG)oftheaircraft
mustbewithintheCGlimits.Makesurethatyouhaveancertiedoperatortoperformweight
balance.
(6)Makesurethecommunicationisclearbetweenthemaintenancepersononground,towtractor
driverandthemaintenanceonboard.Otherwise,unexpectedsituationmayoccur.
