totheshockstruts.
(8)Donotlettheshockstrutofthenoselandinggearextendmorethanthemaximumpermitted
extension(389mm).Anextensionmorethan389mmcancausethecenteringcamtoengage
andcausedamagetotheshockstrutduringaturn.Itcanalsomaketheaftcenterofgravity
limitschangeandcausethenoseupandtaildown.
(9)Iftheactivesteeringmodeofthenoselandinggearisnotdisarmed,makesurethatthepressure
inno.2hydraulicsystemiscompletelyremovedbeforetowingtheairplane.Otherwise,injuryto
personsanddamagetoequipmentcanoccur.
(10)Whenyoutowanairplanewithatowbarinthehighwindconditions,inordertopreventinjury
topersonnelanddamagetoequipmentcausedbythemovementoftheairplaneafterthenlg
activesteeringmodeisdisarmed:connectthetowbar.Thendisarmtheactivesteeringmode
whenthenlgwheelisintheneutralposition,thecockpitisattended,andtheactivesteering
systemisnotoperated.
(11)Beforeyoutowtheaircraft,opentheexternalpowerreceptacleaccessdooratthelowerleftside
ofthefuselage,andputtheNWSdisarmingswitchintheDISARMposition.Aftertheaircraftis
towedinposition,closetheswitchprotectivecapdowntomovetheNWSdisarmingswitchto
theARMposition.
(12)ThetowbarusedbyARJ21-700mustcomplywithregulations,andrefertomanufacture'sin-
structions.
(13)Makesurethattherearenosuddenstartsandstopsbeforetheturnsorduringtheforward
movement.otherwise,damagetoairplanemayoccur.
(14)Whenyoutowtheairplanewithatowbar,thespeedforforwardtowinginastraightlineshall
notexceed10KM/H(5.4kt),thetowingspeedforturningshallnotexceed5km/h(2.7kt),the
speedforbackwardtowinginastraightlineshallnotexceed5km/h,andtheminimumturning
radiusis17m(56ft).Thetowingloadratingofthetowbaris65.3kn(14680lbf).Otherwise,
injurytopersonsanddamagetoequipmentcanoccur.
(15)Whenyoutowtheairplane,allpersonsmuststayoutofthedangerousareasaroundthetow
vehicle,towbar,nosewheels,andmainwheels.Makesureyoukeeptheequipmentthatmoves
atleast3m(10ft)awayfromthepersonsontheground.Otherwise,injurytopersonscanoccur.
(16)WhenanaircraftwithAPUunderoperationisgoingtopassbyanotheraircraftwithAPUoperat-
ing,youmustkeeptheAPUexhaustportoftheaircraftaminimumof15m(49.3ft)awayfrom
anotheraircraftfuelvent.
(17)Donotusetheairplanebrakeswhenyouuseatowbartotowtheairplane.Otherwiseitcan
sheartheshearpins.Whenthetowbarshearpinisbroken,dotheprocedureasfollowing:
(a)Onlyshearpinbroken,buttowbarandaircraftdoesnotdisconnect.Maintenanceperson
shouldimmediatelynoticetowtractordriver,towtractordrivershouldbreakslowly.After
thetractorandtheaircraftcometosteadystop,themaintenancepersonongroundshall
informthemaintenancepersononboardtobraketheaircraft.
(b)Iftowbarandaircraftdisconnect,towtractorshouldkeepmoving,untilfullydisconnected.
Theaircraftbrakes.Duringpushbackoperation,thetowtractordrivershouldstopimmedi-
ately,toavoidthetowtractorcollidethetowbarortheaircraft.Unitlthetowbarandaircraft
disconnectfully,theaircraftbrakes.
(18)Iftheno.2hydraulicsystemispressurized,stayclearofthenoselandinggear.Dothiswhen
theactivesteeringmodeisrestored.Otherwise,injurytopersonsanddamagetoequipment
canoccur.
