Mending a Broken Ink Ribbon or Retransfer Film
If๎the๎ink๎ribbon๎or๎retransfer๎film๎breaks,๎Ink๎Search๎or๎Media๎Search๎is๎displayed๎on๎the๎LCD๎
panel.๎Brok en๎ink๎ribbon๎is๎shown๎in๎the๎following๎example;๎repairing๎broken๎retransfer๎film๎uses๎
the๎same๎steps.
1. Power๎off๎the๎printer.
2. Open๎the๎printer๎door.
3. Press๎the๎release๎button๎for๎the๎appropriate
๎cartridge๎and๎remove๎the๎cartridge๎from๎the๎
printer.
4. Trim๎the๎ends๎of๎the๎broken๎portions๎evenly.
Do๎not๎remove๎the๎used๎ink๎ribbon๎or๎film๎from๎the๎takeโup๎spool.๎
(Removing๎and๎then๎reinstalling๎the๎ribbon๎on๎the๎takeโup๎spool๎may๎
cause๎print๎quality๎issues๎for๎the๎next๎few๎cards.)
5. Align๎the๎ends๎of๎the๎broken๎media๎evenly๎and๎apply๎tape๎to๎secure๎
them.
6. Turn๎the๎takeโup๎spool๎counterclockwise๎until๎the๎mended๎portion๎is๎
wound๎onto๎the๎spool๎two๎or๎three๎turns.
7. Make๎sure๎that๎the๎yellow๎panel๎aligns๎with๎the๎arrow๎on๎the๎
cartridge.
8. Reinstall๎the๎cartridge๎into๎
the๎printer๎until๎it๎clicks๎into๎position.
9. Close๎the๎printer๎door.
10. Initialize๎the๎supplies๎as๎described๎in๎โInitializing๎the๎Ink๎Ri bbon๎and๎
Retransfer๎Filmโ๎on๎page 22.
