Access the RJ-45/RS-232 Console Port with a DB-9 Adapter
You can connect to the console using an RJ-45 to DB-9 adapter along with the RJ-45 rollover cable if the
DTE has a DB-9 interface.
Table 7-1
lists the pin assignments.
Access the USB-B Console Port
The terminal settings are the same for the USB-B port and the console port:
• 9600 baud rate
• No parity
• 8 data bits
• 1 stop bit
• No flow control
When you connect the USB-B port, it becomes the primary connection and, when the system is
connected, it sends all messages to the USB-B drive.

NOTE: Before starting this procedure, be sure you have a terminal emulation program already installed on
your PC. You will also need the appropriate drivers for the USB device you use. For assistance, contact Dell
Force10 Technical Support.
