computer using the Upload Graphic Data
Utility Menu command and meant for
viewing on the computer display either
with the Windows program DigiData.exe or
another computer program. (See the
section on Use of other programs.
When is Uploading complete?
This section will explain when uploading
has been completed.
1) When using the Print/Upload item from
the Digimets Option Menu after you have
chosen the item to upload, you will be in
the Send Slot screen of the Digimet. After
you press the Enter key, the Digimet will
send the data. When the Option Menu
screen re-appears, uploading has ended.
2) Using Upload-Print all Data from the
Utility Menu, when you initiate sending
data on the Digimet by pressing the Enter
key, the bottom line on the Digimet screen
will say “Menu to abort”. When this line
goes away, uploading is complete. Note: If
the message “No Clear to Send.” appears
and remains on the screen, then there is a
problem with the connection, possibly the
computer is not on or the com port is not
the correct one.
3) Upload Graphic Data - See the previous
section titled Upload Graph.
Use of other programs
Other communication programs can be
used to receive data from the Digimet into
the computer. The Digimet utilizes the
serial communication standard EIA-232,
formerly RS-232. Settings would need to
be Baud rate=9600, Data BITS=8,
Parity=None and Stop Bits=1. The data is
sent in ASCII format.
Once data is transferred to the computer
either with another communication
program or with the DOS program
provided, other spreadsheet,
wordprocessing etc. programs could be
used to view the data. Also, the graph files
that are sent to the computer by using the
Upload Graphic Data command in the
Digimet can be viewed by other graphing
programs.
CABLES
There are two types of cables that are
provided:
A six-foot computer serial cable with a
male 9-pin D-sub connector at one end
and a female 9-pin D-sub connector at the
other is provided with the basic Digimet
package and would be needed for any
uploading to a computer.
The other cable is used with the
Digimet Printer. The Digimet Printer cable
is a short cable with a 25-pin male at one
end and a 9-pin male connector at the
other. This cable connects to the Digimet’s
serial port with the 9-pin end. The other
end connects to the Digimet Printer (the
25-pin male end).
Note: A 9-pin female com port is
necessary on the computer. If a 9-pin
connector is not available, adapters can
be obtained from your local electronics
store. When hooking up cables to the
Digimet 3000, the Digimet Printer or your
computer serial port, it is not necessary to
turn them OFF.
