FSG 7016
4 Operation

4.7 Operation using a Headset or Helmet
• When a headset or helmet with an external microphone is connected to the
FSG 7016, both the radio's microphone and loudspeaker are automatically
disabled.
• The use of an external microphone always requires proper microphone
sensitivity matching using the 'EXT MIC SENS' switch
6
, refer to paragraph 4.6.
• Adjust once and remember correct position of 'EXT MIC SENS'
6
switch for a
particular headset/helmet microphone! So, in a similar noise level environment,
the operator only needs to remember the switch position found, if he uses the
same particular headset or helmet.
• Since microphones have different sensitivities, the occasional use of another
headset or helmet - even of the same type - may require resetting of the 'EXT MIC
SENS'
6
switch position.
• When the breathing noise content is still too high, even with proper microphone
sensitivity setting, protect the microphone with a foam cover. This will
significantly increase the message transfer intelligibility, especially in extremely
noisy environment.
