Automatic Operation
1. Follow steps 1 through 3 of the "Manual Operation"
section.
2. Set the part length and quantity in the JOB ENTRY
screen. Make sure to reset the DONE eld to zero
(0) by pressing the "5" key on the numeric key-
pad.
• If you make an error in entering data, just press the
Data Enter function key again; change your entry
and then press the Accept function key.
3. Load the stock into cutting position (either manually
or by using the index vise controls) and scroll to the
INDEX VISE and FIXED VISE controls. Press the
"3" key to clamp the index vise jaw and press the
"6" key to clamp the xed vise. Both vise must be
clamped for the automatic cycle to operate.
4. Turn the Feed Rate control fully clockwise to stop
the feed.
DO NOT over tighten. To prevent damage to
the Feed Rate valve, turn only enough to seat
the needle of the valve.
5. Scroll to the SAW HEAD control. Press and release
the "3" key to allow the saw head to lower (saw
head will not lower at this time because the band
drive motor is not running).
6. Scroll to the CYCLE MODE control. Press the "3"
key for "automatic" operation.
• The index vise jaws open, moves full forward and
then clamps and unclamps the material. The xed
vise clamps and the indexer moves back to the set
index cut length and clamps.
DO NOT start the band drive motor until the
indexer has completed these sequence of
operations.
7. Press the "7" key to start the band drive motor.
Adjust the band speed to the recommended speed
from the Job Selector. Next: (a) Turn the Coolant
valve on the saw guide arm counterclockwise
until coolant completely covers both sides of the
saw band.
• The band drive motor will start and the saw head
will rapid descend until the head raise limit wand
strikes the material. Then the feed rate will switch
to the operator setting. The machine will start
the cut when the operator adjusts the Feed Rate
control to allow the saw head descend at optimum
efciency.
• After the rst cut has been completed: (a) The saw
head will raise just above the material; (b) The xed
vise will open and the index vise moves the mate-
rial forward for the next cut; (c) When the forward
stop is reached, the xed vise clamps, the indexer
moves back to the set index cut length and clamps
and the saw head lowers to make the next cut.
8. Adjust the band speed, feed force and coolant
ow as necessary during the cutting procedure.
The operator may interrupt the cycle by pushing
the "9" key or in the SAW HEAD control screen,
press the "2" key to "hold" (either way will stop both
saw head fall and the band drive motor). Push the
Emergency Stop button for immediate stoppage
of all machine functions.
• The automatic cycle will continue to cycle until all
programmed jobs have been completed.
9. When the number of cuts has been reached, the
saw head will remain in the down position and the
band drive motor will shut off. Hydraulics will remain
on for one (1) minute and then shut off.
DO NOT remove any cut-off pieces until they
are away from the saw band or the saw band
has stopped completely.
For future reference, keep a record of band
speed, feed rate and coolant application set-
tings for successful jobs.
