7. If the device does not appear in the My Connection list, tap New, and follow
the remaining steps.
8. Select the device name from the list and tap Next.
9. Enter a passcode and tap Next.
10. Enter the same passcode on the device and tap Finish.
11. In the My Connections list, tap the device and tap Next.
12. Enter the phone number to dial for this connection and tap Next.
13. Enter the required logon information for this connection and tap Finish. You
can start using this service for the program needed the Bluetooth connection, such
as Inbox on your device, to send and receive e-mail, or Internet Explorer to browse
the Web.
6.4 Using Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi provides wireless Internet access over distances of up to 100 meters. To use
Wi-Fi on your device, you need access to a wireless access point of your service
provider. When you are in public places such as in a coffee shop or restaurant, you
will need access to their public wireless access points (also referred to as “hotspots”).
Note The availability and range of your device’s Wi-Fi signal depends on the
number, infrastructure, and other objects through which the signal passes.
To connect to a Wi-Fi network
1. Tap Start > Settings >Connection tab> Wireless Manager, or tap the
Wireless Manger icon (
) on the Today screen, to open the Wireless Manager
screen.
2. Tap the Wi-Fi button to turn on/off the wireless function. The Wi-Fi icon indicates
the wireless status.
: Wi-Fi is turned on; : Wi-Fi is turned off.
3. After the Wi-Fi function is turned on the device begins to scan for available
wireless networks and will pop up a window on which lists the names of the
detected wireless networks. Tap the desired one and tap ok.
4. Select whether this network connects to The Internet or Work on the next
pop-up window and enter the password for this access point if requested.
5. On the Wireless Manager screen, tap Menu > Wi-Fi Settings to congure the
required settings. When the conguration is completed, connect to a Wi-Fi network
using your device.
Note Wi-Fi network is self-discoverable, meaning that no additional step is
required for the phone to connect to a Wi-Fi network. However, it may be
necessary to provide a username and password for certain closed wireless
network.
To check the Wi-Fi status
You can check the current wireless connection status from the following the
screens of your device:
In the title bar. When you enable Wi-Fi on your device, the Wi-Fi available icon

) will appear on the title bar. After Wi-Fi is turned on, your device begins to
