Carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and very toxic, it also moves freely in the air. CO detectors can measure the concentration and
sound a loud alarm before a potentially harmful level is reached. The human body is most vulnerable to the effects of CO gas during sleeping hours;
therefore, CO detectors should be located in or as near as possible to sleeping areas of the home. For maximum protection, a CO alarm should be
located outside primary sleeping areas or on each level of your home. Figure 5 indicates the suggested locations in the home.
Do NOT place the CO alarm in the following areas:
l Where the temperature may drop below -10ºC or exceed 40ºC
l Near paint thinner fumes
l Within 5 feet (1.5m) of open flame appliances such as furnaces, stoves and fireplaces
l In exhaust streams from gas engines, vents, flues or chimneys
l In close proximity to an automobile exhaust pipe; this will damage the detector

EMERGENCY INFORMATION.
7.0.2 Limited Warranty
DigitalSecurityControlswarrantsthe originalpurchaserthat for a period of twelve monthsfrom the date of purchase, the product shall be free of defectsin materials and workmanship under normaluse. During the warrantyperiod,
DigitalSecurityControlsshall, at itsoption, repair or replace anydefective product upon return of the product to itsfactory, at no charge for labour and materials. Anyreplacement and/or repaired partsare warranted for the remainder
of the originalwarrantyor ninety(90)days, whichever islonger. The originalpurchaser must promptlynotifyDigitalSecurityControlsin writing that there isdefect in materialorworkmanship, such written notice to be received in allevents
prior to expiration of the warranty period. There isabsolutelyno warranty on software and allsoftware productsare sold asa user license under the termsof the software license agreement included with the product. The Customer
assumes allresponsibilityfor the proper selection, installation, operation and maintenance of anyproductspurchased from DSC. Custom productsare only warranted to the extent that theydo not function upon delivery. In such
cases, DSC can replace orcredit at itsoption.
International Warranty
The warrantyfor internationalcustomersis the same as for any customer within Canada and the United States, with the exception that DigitalSecurity Controls shallnot be responsible for anycustoms fees, taxes, or VAT that may be
due.
Warranty Procedure
To obtain service underthiswarranty, please return the item(s)in question to the point of purchase. Allauthorized distributorsand dealershave a warranty program. Anyone returning goodsto DigitalSecurityControlsmust first obtain
an authorization number. DigitalSecurityControlswillnot accept anyshipment whatsoever for which prior authorization hasnot been obtained.
Conditions to Void Warranty
Thiswarrantyappliesonlyto defects in partsand workmanship relating to normaluse. It does not cover:
ll
damage incurred in shipping or handling;
l
damage caused by disaster such as fire, flood, wind, earthquake orlightning;
l
damage due to causes beyond the controlof DigitalSecurity Controls such asexcessive voltage, mechanicalshockor water damage;
l
damage caused by unauthorized attachment, alterations, modificationsor foreign objects;
l
damage caused by peripherals(unlesssuch peripherals were supplied byDigitalSecurityControlsLtd.);
l
defectscaused byfailure to provide a suitable installation environment for the products;
l
damage caused by use of the productsfor purposesother than those for which it wasdesigned;
l
damage from impropermaintenance;
l
damage arising out of anyother abuse, mishandling or improper application of the products.
Items Not Covered by Warranty
In addition to the itemswhich void the Warranty, the following itemsshallnot be covered byWarranty: (i) freight cost to the repaircentre; (ii) productswhich are not identified with DSC'sproduct label and lot number or serialnumber; (iii)
productsdisassembled or repaired in such a manner asto adversely affect performance or prevent adequate inspection or testing to verify anywarrantyclaim. Accesscards or tags returned for replacement under warrantywillbe cred-
ited or replaced at DSC'soption. Productsnot covered bythis warranty, or otherwise out of warrantydue to age, misuse, or damage shallbe evaluated, and a repair estimate shallbe provided. No repairworkwillbe performed untila
valid purchase order isreceived from the Customer and a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA)isissued by DSC'sCustomer Service.
DigitalSecurityControlsLtd.’sliabilityforfailure to repair the product under thiswarrantyafter a reasonable number of attempts willbe limited to a replacement of the product, asthe exclusive remedy for breach of warranty. Under no cir-
cumstancesshallDigitalSecurity Controls be liable forany special, incidental, or consequentialdamages based upon breach of warranty, breach of contract, negligence, strict liability, or anyother legaltheory. Such damages include,
but are not limited to, lossof profits, lossof the product or anyassociated equipment, cost of capital, costof substitute orreplacement equipment, facilitiesorservices, down time, purchaser’s time, the claims of third parties, including cus-
tomers, and injuryto property. The laws of some jurisdictionslimit or do not allow the disclaimer of consequentialdamages. If the lawsof such a jurisdiction apply to anyclaim by or against DSC, the limitationsand disclaimerscontained
here shallbe to the greatest extent permitted bylaw. Some statesdo not allow the exclusion orlimitation of incidentalorconsequentialdamages, so that the above may not applyto you.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Thiswarrantycontainsthe entire warrantyand shallbe in lieu of anyand allother warranties, whether expressed or implied (including allimplied warranties of merchantability orfitnessfor a particular purpose) and of allother obligations
or liabilities on the part of DigitalSecurity Controls. DigitalSecurity Controls neither assumes responsibilityfor, nor authorizes any other person purporting to act on itsbehalf to modifyor to change thiswarranty, norto assume for it any
other warranty or liabilityconcerning thisproduct. This disclaimerof warranties and limited warranty are governed by the laws of the province of Ontario, Canada.
WARNING: DigitalSecurity Controls recommendsthat the entire system be completelytested on a regular basis. However, despite frequent testing, and due to, but not limited to, criminaltampering or electricaldisruption, it ispossible
for thisproduct to failto perform asexpected.
Out of Warranty Repairs
DigitalSecurityControlswill at itsoption repairor replace out-of-warranty productswhich are returned to itsfactoryaccording to the following conditions. Anyone returning goods to DigitalSecurity Controls must first obtain an author-
ization number. DigitalSecurity Controls willnot accept any shipment whatsoever forwhich prior authorization has not been obtained.
Productswhich DigitalSecurityControlsdetermines to be repairable willbe repaired and returned. A set fee which DigitalSecurity Controls haspredetermined and which may be revised from time to time, willbe charged foreach unit
repaired.
Productswhich DigitalSecurityControlsdetermines not to be repairable willbe replaced by the nearest equivalent product available at that time. The current market price of the replacement product willbe charged for each replace-
ment unit.
