5.26.3 Using the LINKS as a Redundant Communicator
The panel can be programmed to call using both the land line and the LINKS1000 cellular communicator when
an event occurs. To program this select both the phone number and the LINKS options for the Communicator
Call Direction Options for the event. In addition the Call LINKS as well as Land Line option must be selected.
The panel will call the LINKS and then call the land line when reporting the selected event.
5.26.4 LINKS Special Preamble
In some areas of North America, dialing #DAT or ✱DATA reduces the cellular billing increment. The
LINKS Special Preamble (section [393]), allows the use of [✱] and [#] characters for the programming of
#DAT and ✱DATA.
The LINKS Special Preamble is sent BEFORE the Preamble programmed in Sections [390] to [392].

If this Special Preamble is programmed, it will be inserted before the Regular Preamble of ALL
telephone numbers. Hex digits D and E are not supported for Preamble programming.
If Busy Tone Detection is enabled, the LINKS1000 must be tested to ensure full operation.

5.27 Wireless Expansion
Any number of zones, up to 32, can be programmed as wireless. Adding wireless devices to the panel is
done by simply selecting the zone number and entering the 6 digit ESN number written on the unit.
Do not add wireless devices to the same zone as a hardwire zone. Hardwire and wireless zones
cannot share the same zone.
Each wireless zone, WLS904, WLS905, WLS906, or WLS907 will send a supervisory round every 12 minutes. If
the receiver hears from the wireless device at least once during the Wireless Supervisory Window it will not
report a trouble. If the receiver does not it will generate a General Zone Supervisory trouble and reporting
code. The panel will report Supervisory trouble by zone using the SIA format
(See Section 5.6.1 “SIA”).
Within the supervisory transmission the device will also indicate the status of the battery. If a low battery
condition exists the panel will indicate a General Transmitter Low Battery trouble. The panel will delay
reporting the event for the number of days programmed for Zone Low Battery Transmission Delay. If
the customer has been instructed on how to replace batteries this will prevent unnecessary reporting of
the event provided the batteries are changed.
A PC5132 tamper will be logged to the event buffer or transmitted as a general system tamper under two
conditions. It will first occur if the tamper terminals on the PC5132 are open; the tamper will be restored
by shorting out these terminals. Second, a tamper will be logged when the PC5132 detects an attempt to
impede RF signals. This advises the monitoring station that the wireless zone transmissions are not being
received by the modules.
