8. Extension kits
The CPA 2000 electro acoustics compact system has been designed to match your requirements. There
are several optional extension kits available providing additional functionality.
8.1 Alert, Gong, Pre-Gong (NRS 90212)
This extension kit has to be installed in the insertion socket B305 / B306 on the printed board assembly
83107 (also refer to diagram 4). Therefore you have to disconnect the appliance from the mains supply
as well as from the battery supply and detach its cover. Before the installation you have to set the desired
alert, gong, and pre-gong function. For the setting of the different options, please refer to the following
table (also refer to diagram 5).
Jumper Notes Signal
J901 DIN - Alarm (1200 ... 500 Hz) (standard setting)
J902 Slow whoop alert (500 .. 1200 Hz)
J903 Jump - tone - alert (tone change impulse 925 / 1075 Hz)
J904 Dual gong
J905 Triple gong (standard setting)
J906 Quadruple gong
J907 Dual pre-gong (standard setting)
J908 Single pre-gong
With the installed extension the CPA 2000 automatically mutes any microphone or line-level signals
whenever a gong or alert is activated. The alert’s volume is adjusted by using the potentiometer R929.
Thus, using the R930 potentiometer adjusts the gong’s volume and R931 determines the output level of
the pre-gong signal.
The alert is being released through the use of the microphone terminal MT 2005’s “alert button” (14).
Alternatively it can be released via pin 2 of the REMOTE CONTROL [58] connector. The alert signal is
outputted as long as the button is pressed, respectively as long as the pin 2 is connected to ground
potential.
The gong is being released through the use of the microphone terminal MT 2005’s “gong button” (8) or
via pin 1 of the REMOTE CONTROL [58] connector (connected to ground potential). The gong signal
ends automatically.
Depending on the programming as described in paragraph 7, the pre-gong signal is automatically released
prior to any voice message.
