Appendix B: Searchable Help
This Quick Start manual provides a introduction to the basic features of your DV4/MT4 device. After
reviewing the steps that are offered in this manual, you should be able to begin programming and
communicating with your device at the most basic level. The Quick Start is meant to be an introductory
reference to a device with a variety of unique features and functions.
If you want to explore all the features of your DV4/MT4 device, you can use the information in the
DynaVox Series 4 Searchable Help on the CD that was included with your DV4/MT4 device. The Searchable
Help feature provides a comprehensive reference for every feature in the DV4/MT4 software. The CD
offers the Searchable Help in several formats:
Windows only
Cross-platform for Windows and Macintosh
Text only (a .pdf document)
To install the Windows only version of the Searchable Help, follow these steps:
1. Place the CD in your computer’s CD drive. It should launch within 10 seconds. If it does not,
double click on the My Computer icon on your desktop to find the CD drive, and then double-
click on that drive.
2. Double-click on the SEARCHABLE HELP - WINDOWS folder.
3. Double-click on the SERIES4-106X_HELP.CHM file to launch the Searchable Help.
To install the cross-platform version of the Searchable Help, follow these steps:
1. Place the CD in your computer’s CD drive. It should launch in 10 seconds. If it does not and
you are using a Windows computer, double click on the My Computer icon on your desktop to
find the CD drive, and then double-click on that drive. If it does not and you are using a
Macintosh computer, double-click on the CD icon on your desktop.
2. Double-click on the SEARCHABLE HELP - CROSS-PLATFORM folder.
3. Double-click on the INDEX.HTM file to launch the Searchable Help.
Once the Searchable Help is open, you can find information in several different ways:
You can select the Contents tab in the left viewport and then select topics in the list of
contents. The topics are displayed in an expandable/collapsible tree view. You can select a
