If the checks/actions as described above have been completed and identification of the cause not determined, or if
a fault cannot be rectified, contact the supplier or Edwards for advice.
High vibration.
Is the installation level?
Check level of installation: Refer to
Section 3.3.
Is the pump operating under
cavitation conditions?
Check that the seal liquid supply is as
specified in Section 2: Refer to
Section 5.4.
Check for restrictions in the process
inlet pipelines.
If installed, check the heat exchanger
is not blocked.
Is the flow of seal liquid to the pump
too high?
Check that the seal water supply is as
specified in the bareshaft liquid ring
pump instructions listed in
Section 1.2.7. If necessary, reduce the
flow rate of the seal liquid into the
pump: Refer to Section 3.6.7.
Is the drive/transmission system
damaged?
Inspect and re-align, repair or replace
as necessary.
Is the liquid ring pump damaged or in
need of repair?
Contact the supplier or Edwards for
advice.
Liquid ring pump bearings are hot.
Is there insufficient or too much
grease in the bearing?
Replenish or remove grease as
necessary: Refer to Section 5.6.
Is the grease contaminated or
deteriorated?
Remove old grease, wash bearings in
suitable solvent and replace with new
grease. Determine the cause of the
contamination and correct as
necessary.
Is the drive/transmission system
damaged?
Inspect and re-align, repair or replace
as necessary.
Is the pump damaged or in need of
repair?
Contact the supplier or Edwards for
advice.
