Software updates for the ATS-5X may be downloaded from the NCS/Electrodata website (www.ncs-electrodata.com).
Once downloaded, the software file should be placed on the root directory of a valid USB drive (see section 2.3.4). The
name of the software file must be ATS5XSFT.DAT to be recognized by the ATS-5X. The name of the file must be all
upper-case or lower-case letters, and there cannot be another file on the root directory of the USB drive with the same
name but different letter case.
To begin the turn the ATS-5X on and verify that power-on self test passes. Once the Main Menu screen is displayed,
insert the USB drive into the ATS-5X USB port. A prompt will be displayed asking if the ATS-5X software should be
changed to the software contained on the USB drive (see Figure 48). Press the Yes button to continue to the Software
Update screen. Once this screen is displayed (see Figure 49), connect the DC power adapter to the ATS-5X to reduce the
likelihood of ATS-5X battery discharge during update. Press the I understand, begin update button to download the
USB drive software file to the ATS-5X. Once the download is initiated, it cannot be stopped by the user. After it
completes, the ATS-5X will automatically reset. Turn the ATS-5X off and then back on to re-activate the USB port.

3.2 Calibration
If equipment calibration is required, the recommended calibration cycle is 1 year. Contact the factory to schedule a
calibration.
3.3 Battery Care
To preserve the life of the internal battery, the ATS-5X should not be stored at temperatures above 120°F (50°C) for
periods greater than 1 month. After periods of prolonged storage, several battery charge/discharge cycles may be
necessary to restore the battery capacity.
