2.7 Measurements and Functions
2.7.1 Level / Frequency / Noise
2.7.1.1 Overview
The level/frequency/noise measurement shows the level, frequency and harmonic content of the most prominent
receiver tone as well as the overall receiver noise level. The basic display is shown in Figure 28.
2.7.1.2 Setup
There are no restrictions on the line interface setup for this measurement.
The following transmit modes are permitted for this measurement:
Off
1004 Hz
Single Tone
Tone Sweep
2.7.1.3 Measurements and Displays
The measurements listed below are continuously updated and displayed:
Noise Level: The total true RMS (50Hz to 20kHz) level of the signal at the receiver after the filter selected
in the Setup screen has been applied. Notch filtering is ignored.
Signal Level: The level of the largest single sinusoidal tone at the receiver before the selected filter has
been applied. If there are no significant tones detected, the display shows “Under -80.0
dBm”.
Bandpath RMS: The value of Noise Level reported in units of dBm.
Frequency: The frequency corresponding to the tone measured for the Signal Level. If there are no
significant tones, the display shows “N/A”.
Noise w/Tone: The total true RMS (50Hz to 20kHz) level of the signal at the receiver after a 1010Hz Notch
filter has been applied. The filter selected in the Setup screen is not applied for this
measurement.
