Reinforce the edge
of soft
or loosely
woven
materials by overlocking with
tape. You
can
overlock
with
either
3
or 4 threads, depending
on the
type of work.

qui
sera
tendu automatiquement
pendant
la couture.

dans

ainsi

la
fente
de la

comme
vous le
feriez
pour
un
cordonnet
ou un
ruban.
Serrez
la vis
(e) pour
tendre
l'6lastique.
Cousez
l'over-
lock.
Un
essai
de couture sur un bout
de tissu est indiqu6.
Si
le tissu
ne fronce
pas
assez, serrez
d'avantage la vis
(e)
et rallongez dventuellement
le
point.
Une autre manidre tres simple
de
froncer
est la suivante:

Vous cousez
l'overlock d
3
f
ils
en insdrant
l'6lastique
dans
I'ourlet sans tension aucune,
la vis
(e)
dtant
lib6rde.
Aprds
avoir cousu, coupez
la
chaine
de
fil
a l'extrdmit6 du tissu
et
tirez sur
l'6lastique
pour
obtenir
des
fronces
d
souhait.

La
languette
largeur de
point
"2"
n'est
pas
indiqu6e
pour
l'overlock courant. Utilisez
la languette
"1"
quand
vous
cousez sans
cordonnet
ni ruban
ou
dlastique,

Use
elastic
less than 5 mm wide, which
is stretched auto-.
matically during sewing.
Pass
the elastic through the
tape/elastic
guide
and
the opening of
the
stitch
tongue
"2" in
a similar
manner as
for the cord or tape. Tighten
the ad,iusting screw
(e)
to
hold
the
elastic. Overlock
test sew
first
on a scrap of
material.
lf the
gathers
are
not sufficiently
pronounced,
tighten
the screw
(e)
and
possibly
lengthen the
stitch.
The
gathering
can be also
done very easily as
follows:
-
Overlock with three
threads, inserting the
elastic into the
seam, with
no
friction
on
it by
unscrewing
the screw
(e)
completely. After
sewing, cut
the chain of thread at the
edge of the
fabric
and
pull
the elastic out as
desired to
make
gathers.
N.B. The stitch
tongue
"2"
is not
suitable
for normal over-
locking.
Always use
the stitch tongue
"1"
when
you
are
not overlocking with a cord,
tape or elastic.
