Glossary
read miss The name of the action taken when data requested by the read
operation is not in global memory.
reconnect The function that occurs when a target selects an initiator to continue
an operation after a disconnect.
reconnection A reconnection exists from the assertion of the BSY signal in a
RESELECTION phase until the next BUS FREE phase occurs. A
reconnection can only occur between a target and an initiator.
record zero The first record after the home address.
reselect The function that occurs when a target disconnects from an initiator
in order to perform a time-consuming function and then, after
performing that function, re-establishes the connection.
reserved The term used for bits, bytes, fields, and code values that are set aside
for future standardization.

SCSI Small Computer System Interface.
SCSI address The octal representation of the unique address (0-7) assigned to a
SCSI device. This address, consisting of a target ID and LUN, or
Initiator ID and LUN, would normally be assigned and set in the SCSI
device during system installation.
SCSI device A host computer adapter or peripheral controller or intelligent
peripheral that can be attached to the SCSI bus.
SDMS Symmetrix Data Migration Service allows continuous business
operations and continuous data availability while data is
automatically migrated from existing DASD to Symmetrix 5000
systems.
