RJ4510/100/1000frontpanelportsontheG3G12424andG3G12424PbaseunitsandG3G24TX
IOMsupportAutoMDIX,whichmeansthatyoucanusestraightthroughorcrossovertwisted
paircabling.
ToconnecttwistedpairsegmentstotheGSeries,refertoFigure 25onpage 217andproceed
as
follows:
1. Ensurethatthedevicetobeconnectedattheotherendofthesegmentispoweredon.
2. ConnectthetwistedpairsegmenttotheGSeriesbyinsertingtheRJ45connectoronthe
twistedpairsegmentintothedesiredRJ45port.
Note: Before connecting a PC into the G-Series USB console port, you must download to the PC
and install a third party driver, the VCP Driver Kit, located at
https://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx
Note: All RJ45 front panel and IOM ports support Category 5 Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP)
cabling with an impedance between 85 and 111 ohms. Category 3 cabling may be used if the
connection is going to be used only for 10 Mbps.
