5.2 DISARMING THE EPC
There are three possible methods for disarming the EPC:
1) Disable input
- Input P4-2 is a contact for remote disable. This contact can be wired to a local disarm
switch or door (inhibit) switch. Contact open/closure will initiate the disable sequence; refer to exhibit 4-
10.
2) AM command
– The AM provides an Enable /Disable menu to provide the ability to control the EPC via
the AM pushbuttons. Toggling the pushbuttons from this menu will toggle the enable status of the EPC.
Refer to the AM manual, E06-053, for complete instruction.
3) Power
– Disarm through total power off. In this case the 20 most recent events are stored into the
Explosion Protection Controller’s (EPC’s) history. All events are stored in relative time as the EPC’s
clock will be shut down on power off. If the complete PSU is powered down, not recommended, the
Annunciator will also be shutdown and the 40 most recent events will be stored in the Annunciator
Module (AM) history.
As noted in section 5.1.2, the EPC will enter a non-latching Trouble State when the EPC is disarmed.
WARNING: Vessel entry and maintenance requirements shall be performed only after following the
Disarming of the EPC by power removal and following safe vessel entry maintenance
practices acceptable to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), i.e. OSHA, or the
manufacturing facility.
5.3 EVENT HISTORY
The EPC can store up to 16 history records in a
First in First out (FIFO) table. A time stamp is
created with each event recorded. The time
information is updated each second and will be
relative between consequent events.
The following codes are retrieved through
EPWorks Software.
